now that i have your attention :) i have a Wireless-G MIMO Performance* Broadband Router and Access Point with High Gain Antenna and continue to have issues with the wireless connection to my hp notebook. whenever my sister who has a dell computer gets on her computer and connects to the internet i am unable to connect to the internet, however, if she logs off and i log into the internet first i am able to access it whether she is online or not. this process continues for about a week and a half to two weeks and then i am unable to connect to my connection no matter which members of my family are on. could this be a hardware compatability problem or could it be a problem with having multiple users accessing the router daily? is it perhaps time that i invested in a new router and is there one that is better than another in consideration to having multiple brands of laptops?

sounds like you are only allowing one ip address out of the router. what is your configuration in your router?

Nizzy may be right for only 1 pc connecting at a time, which is very unusual. But I think your ISP is restricting you to 1 IP. Meaning that your router is not setup correctly. You may also need to clone the mac address of the pc used to setup the account into the router. This way the ISP will only see 1 pc, no matter how many you connect. Make sure the router is in router mode not bridge.

tried to clone didnt work and my router supports 6 computers on a wireless connection its just that i have to get online before my sister gets online on her computer the issue i have is that i load the software onto my router and then input mac addresses into my mac filter and it will work for about 2 weeks then for no apparent reason my internet will stop working entirely but there is no effect to anyone elses computer.. i guess im kinda askin is there a solution like gettin a new router or a process to fix this issue or should i just give up and be thankful i have wireless internet and reload my software every 2 weeks? =/

Make sure you are not restricting your DHCP range. Just think a nb with at least 2 IP's, if you want a max. Otherwise open up the range.

See if your router supports dd-wrt. If so load it into your routers and the flaky firmware problems will go away.

6 connections on a wireless connection, how many are using it? I have never see a wireless with that restriction. Now symontaious connection can and will limit you.
