Personally I can't see buying an AC router for all that cash when AX is available even if AX is not finalized

That's a grossly overpriced router that will not get you better wireless performance than the R7800

Save yourself a ton of cash on a new router if you are choosing wireless-ac and go with an R7800
It's the best proven AC router!

XR700 is just an R9000 with Duma additions on top of the standard firmware. The R7800 performs in terms of wireless better than the R9000/XR700 even though all three share the same Qualcomm QCA9984 WiFi chipset. Only reason to buy the R9000/XR700 is if you need link aggregation and SFP port.

If you're gonna spend that much, may as well buy an RAX80 or GT-AX11000. Though the latest AX units still have to iron out various firmware issues as they’re pretty new.

From a practical standpoint I’d say save your money and get the R7800, best ac unit available in terms of WiFi performance and costs less than half of the XR700.

What router would you recommend in the same class (AX, preferably) with an SFP+ port?
That last bit is a big deal (as it will be wired to a NAS).

In the update to the latest 19H2 Insider Preview build 18362.1005 was Intel Wireless WHQL driver 21.30.0.2.

Not as oudated as the 21.30.1.1 linked by Ultra Male

In the recent(yesterday) Windows Insider build update was Intel Wireless Bluetooth driver version
    21.30.0.5

If anyone is interested in trying it out I have uploaded the files to my mediafire account for your downloading pleasure. There is no setup file so this is for updating in device manager.

does Killer AX1650 is better in terms of features than Intel AX200? I check on online site and AX1650's price are twice AX200. I'm still a student so money's tight but I could afford AX1650 if it's worth it.

Nope, same card same drivers, occasionally newer Intel drivers are on Killer’s site but you obviously can use those the AX200 as it’s the same card. Only difference is the 1650x allows you to install the atrocious Killer Software suite with their QoS features which is better off kept uninstalled as their QoS can cause more harm than good.

If you have Killer Ethernet or Wifi adapter in your PC Windows updates will keep installing the Rivet Networks software even if you don't want it.

Disabling it in the task manager is necessary.

I've asked on Windows feedback a few times why the software is not an optional install and get no reply.

Yes,the AX200 is a better choice but the Killer AX1650 was available to early adapters on Amazon before the Intel AX200 could be obtained and in your hands.

A quality WiFi 6 router is also an important piece of an upgrade/update to AX but not fully necessary.A WiFi 5 router like the excellent Netgear R7800 will work with the AX200 nearly as good.

Not if you do this bro. After installing the blocking Driver, I never get any Killer extensions, services, or app installed through Windows update or the store. I do this as soon as I format but you can also do it afterwards if one has already had them force fed to him through Windows Update.

Yes,I agree that the uninstall software works well when installed of a fresh clean Windows but not so much when it's put on an older installation.

I've often gotten an "unable to install' message so in those instances it's been easier to stop the service in the task manager.

Now I've made it a priority to do on all my clean installs that I probably do more than most Windows users.

Today's Insider Preview build had Intel Wireless driver version 21.40.0.1 included.

I extracted the file from my computer and uploaded the files to my Mediafire account linked below

There is no exe file so unpack the zip file and update your present driver in device manager

    EDIT:removed link,driver not working well

EDIT #2:driver works, problem on one drive was a problem on my end.

I hope that the Intel wireless driver 21.40.0.1 is working for all that opted to download and try it.

My experience with it has been mixed.

A new MSI GS75 with an Intel 9560ac works well using 21.40.0.1 on the 2 NVMe SSDs installed running Windows 10 Home x64 and Windows 10 Pro x64 build 1903

A desktop PC with a Killer AX1650 in PCI-e adapter 21.40.0.1 is working on all 4 SSDs installed using Windows 10 Pro x64 build 1903 and newest Insider Preview builds

An MSI GS60 2PL(2014 model) with a Killer AX1650 does not connect on both SSDs installed on all Windows 10 versions tested. Both drives have no trouble connecting when wireless driver 21.30.3.2 is installed.
Version 21.40.0.1 is the 1st version that has failed to work on the GS60.

The uninstaller and blocker no longer works. WU pushes a mandatory Rivet Networks package that reinstalls the Killer Network package (at least the services and two other items). Running the uninstaller again, just temporarily removes the junk, installs the blocker, only for the next WU to reinstall it all again.

It's been working well for me.

I have Killer AX1650 in a desktop and a notebook.

On 4 of 5 drives in these 2 PCs the program was run on clean Windows 10 x64 installations including 2 Insider Preview builds as soon as Windows completed installing.
1-Run Disable Killer from Windows Update
    2-Restart
3-connect to The Internet and run Windows Update.

On the other drive it was a 4 step process.
1-Scan for and then remove Killer Software
    2-Restart
    3-Disable Killer from Windows Update
    4-Restart

No Killer software has been installed when using Windows Updated.Preview builds get updates on a weekly basis and no Killer software is installed or offered for installation.

That's the point, it was working well for me up until ~4 days ago, when WU forced a Rivet Network package that also brought back the Service.

Running the uninstaller (I've tried rebooting and not rebooting between each step) only provides temporary relief. Eventually, the service comes back via WU.

I should also note, WU is also forcing an older .6911 Intel IGP driver, even when I had .6912 (later, I also had .7000) installed. It's really annoying, to say the least. Because of this, I am willing to blame some strange Dell policy, but my PC is a clean install (new, non-Dell SSD) from a 1903 install USB. Oh, well.

I just ordered a new AX1650 from ebay. I hope the range is better from a intel 8260. I am not really looking for more speed, just more range.

i can only say that after upgrading from a 7265ac to the AX200, both range/signal strength and throughput have easily doubled :)

i think the 7265 and 8260 where about the same range, speed wise, i think the 8260 was abit faster. Like you say, it its double the range, I am going to be a happy dude.
Is the AX200 the newest one.

Thanks for link to the driver.

While Intel wireless diver 21.30.3.2 worked perfectly on a 5+ year old MSI GS60 2PL with a Killer AX1650 installed(notebook purchased from Ken at Gentech) as did all previous drivers but version 21.40.0.1 from an Insider Preview build update did not work on the GS60.

I'm happy to say that this Intel wireless driver version 21.40.1.4 works well on the MSI GS60 2PL with a Killer AX1650 installed.

The driver has also been installed on my desktop that has a Killer AX1650 in a pci-e x1 add in card.

Hello guys, anyone getting constant issues with their Bluetooth?

Mine will turn off/uninstall itself, I think the latter because device manager will not show Bluetooth device.

I will have to reinstall the Bluetooth driver and then the next 12 hours it will disconnect and I have to repeat the same process.

The killer website states this is issue with windows 10, wanted to know if anyone found workaround yet?

    New In Latest Insider Preview

Most new driver downloads available are optional installations now as well as the Killer software.

In past Insider updates older drivers have been installed over newer ones from previous builds and Killer software was installed without consent.

In the newest build released yesterday is Intel Bluetooth version 21.50.0.1 as optional installation

For anyone interested, I have installed the Killer AX1650 in my Alienware 17 R1 (via mpcie to m.2 adapter) as well as my Alienware 13 R3

I dont have a Wifi 6 network right now, but I get about 585/585 to my cheap Archer C router, and oddly enough I no longer have issues with disconnecting to my router vs the Broadcom AC WLAN card that was installed previously.

Though I cant pair my ps4 controller via Bluetooth anymore, and I cant remove the old pairing either.

I've uploaded the new Intel Bluetooth driver files, version 21.50.0.1, to my Mediafire account for members who wish to give it a try.
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/9owlbehokfsvvfk/BT21.50.0.1.zip/file

These files were extracted from my computer's Driver Store so there's no exe file.Your Intel BT driver needs to be updated through Device Manager using these files.

    Enjoy

I think you just answered the question - that you can stick a wifi M2 into a normal M2 slot correct? Reason being is that the M17 R2 with the soldered wifi is quite a bother but the ability to surrender one of the M2 slots to a wifi card would overcome the stupid solder choice. If I read you correctly, that is possible. If it's not too much bother would you have a link to the adapter you used? And I'd be curious if you ever got the BT to work...

    Thank you :)

I use RAX80 with AX200 in my XPS 15 9560. It mostly works fine at 2.4Gbps. But from about 2 months ago, some driver issue started acting up, it will cause inconsistent speed, and most annoying of all, driver reset. Sometimes, it will simply cause internet drop that's long enough to get me kicked out of a game, which is infuriating enough, other times, it will cause the driver to reset completely and thus require a full restart to start working again. I may have a solution to reduce the occurrence, though I'm still testing. But it seems Diagnostic Policy Service will still try to fix correctable issues and cause high CPU usage from time to time. Really have no clue what exactly is going on.
