Hi,
I am literally 2 ft from my wireless router. When I go to connect, I keep getting a "Limited or no connectivity" altho the signal strength is excellent. However my sister can connect just fine, and she's down the hallway. Why is this happening? None of my settings have changed. The only thing I did was download a 2.4 GB movie. Upon reboot, thats when I got that message. Please help me.

Try powercycling your wireless router (unplug it for 1 minute, then plug it back in). If that fails, try using ethernet to connect. If neither method will actually connect, it's a software issue, but powercycling normally fixes my wireless connection issues (yes, even in situations where I'm the only one who can't connect).

Have you tried to "repair" the connection?
-
Just reboot your router. (killing the power would do the same)

ive had that problem before. my friend could connect but i couldnt =/ had to go to sleep and try the next day. and it worked.

I rebooted my router, repaired connection, and before it actually connects, I get the limited or no connectivity msg. Anything else? Why would I be blocked from my own router, but my sister and bro are good to go?

What router do you have? Check to make sure you have the WEP or WPA key properly typed in. Also, you could try statically assigning yourself an IP address.
Thanks, -
I tried giving myself a static IP. I am connected, but I cant go to any webpages or get on mIRC, AIM, or VPN
-
Did you check your encryption key? (WEP, WPA) Also, are you sure all your static settings are correct?
-
If you have a static IP address, you also need to manually assign your DNS server addresses. OpenDNS servers are:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220 -
This has happened to me, strangely when I use my desktop [which is connected to my router via Ethernet RJ-45 cable, NOT WiFi] but never on my laptop. The message appears, then after a few seconds, it's gone and I have a normal internet connection in the end.
Do you get the message and actually have a very slow or even no connection at all? Maybe it's more of a software [Microsoft] thing than anything... -

I this sitution i will normally either reset the router, restart the computer, repair the connect, or disconnect and reconnect (Not in that order). One of those fixes the problem for me

run "ipconfig /all" you will find that the DNS values are not there or bad gateway. If you can not ping yahoo.com you have bad DNS info. Log in to the router and look under the ISP connection info. The dns number should match.
