I have the Linksys WRT54GX4 router and it just wont keep up with gaming. I have the lag meter on in Quake 4 for example and every second on the dime I get loss. That loss makes it impossible to play the game.
When I went back to my Dlink DI-604, the problem was gone.
Now my Linksys WRT54GX4 has wifi and I use wifi for my notebook. But for my desktop I use one of the ethernet ports to connect to the network. So why would this router be slow when connected to the 10/100?
Is there any setting you would recommend I change so that I dont get loss every second?
Thanks!

Go the the www.linksys.com website, look for Support/Downloads, and then choose your router, and then update the firmware.

That is were you go, and just hit firmware.
Now you know how to do the firmware

Are you playing with everyone on the LAN? If you're playing over the internet, you won't come anywhere near the speeds that router is capable of, so maybe it's not the router?
Check your speeds at http://www.dslreports.com/stest -
Lan is fine, its playing over the internet.
I know I wont hit 10mb/s while gaming, duh.
The problem is with the linksys router, giving me loss in games.
BTW I downloaded the latest firmware for the router when I got it. Since then there have been no updates. I sent a ticket out to linksys, so hopfully they will beable to help me and possibly send me a beta firmware fix. I searched google and other people are having similar issues. But with diffrent games.
Linksys WRT54GX4 10/100 isnt fast enough for gaming
