First some background: My desktop PC is connected via wifi to my router in order to access the internet. Using my PC I created a network bridge between my wireless and LAN in order to use Xbox LIVE (used an Ethernet cable to link the PC and Xbox).
My problem is that earlier today, I disconnected the Ethernet cable from my Xbox and connected it to my laptop (Win XP) in order to access the internet on it. However, I can't get a connection on the laptop, even though I'm online on the desktop. A wireless connection is not possible, please don't ask why lol. I just need to get this laptop connected![]()

Is this your latest configuration?
router (ethernet port1)----------------laptop
router (WiFi) -------------------------desktop -
If this is it.....
Router---------->Desktop------------>Laptop then I think you'll need to set up ICS. -
It's Router-----(wifi)--->Desktop-----(Ethernet)---->Laptop
So I should set up ICS on the desktop? Thanks for the help -
It sounds like ur desktop has a WiFi Card installed which allows u to connect to the Internet via the Router wirelessly. If that's is so then ICS may not work because I believe you can only do Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on a LAN Card and not a Wireless Card. And the computer that is going to be sharing the connection needs two NIC Adapters....
Question: Can't you connect the Laptop directly to the Router via the LAN Ethernet connection? -
Sorry, the laptop has to be connected to the desktop. Long story =(

You have to setup your desktop so other computers connect to internet through it. The option is in the network adapter.
