I take my laptop to work and we keep our files on a server. so when i get there i log on and have access to the server. i don't have the drive in my computer because when ever i go home and turn on my laptop it searches for the drive. Right now i have a shortcut on my desktop to the drive which doesn't search for the drive unless i click it, but the problem is i use cad, and at work we have viewports on drawings that are pathed to the drive. so the path looks like this "z:job number" , but when i use my shortcut i get "server/Z:job number". (z is one of the drives on the server) ok so my question is is there a way to add that drive to my computer but only have it search for the drive when i connect to the network at work and not home?.
home this makes sense
thanks if anyone can help

if I understand, you just right click my computer and select Map Network Drive. I have a few shortcuts that are to network applications, and this is how we got those folders on the desktop.

thanks for the reply but when i map the drive to my computer when ever i turn on my pc and i'm not at work it tries to connect and i get an annoying error message. is there a way to tell it not to connect unless i'm at work?

To exsplain alittle better right-click my computer, you should see map network drive & disable network drive. Choose the drive you want to deactivate. Hope this helps.
