I'm buying my first modem soon to pair most likely with Comcast's 25 down / 5 up service. I'm stuck between the Motorola SB6121 and SB6141. As far as differences go, it seems the 6141's only selling point is that it has twice the channels as the 6121 therefore twice the theoretical download speed. However, I don't see a point to it if I am not getting those speeds from the ISP. The price difference is $20 and I don't like the hideous look of the white case on the 6141. So, is there any reason or benefit to getting the 6141 over the 6121 or will the 6121 suffice for years to come? Thanks for your help!

I was on the same boat few weeks ago. I bought the SB6141 because, from research, it is future proof. Both are great modems though.

I have the 6121 and Comcast's 50/10 plan and have no issues achieving those speeds. This is with 4 bonded channels down and 3 up. Make sure you thoroughly check all the wiring in your house, remove or replace any unneeded or old splitters, and maybe even have Comcast come out and check that all your signal levels are OK. These modems are very sensitive to signal fluctuations, particularly on the upstream side. Once you get your modem set up, post a screen grab of the "signal" tab of your modem. The address is usually 192.168.100.1. Good luck.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to get the 6121. Already setup the 25 down / 5 up service with Comcast, just have to activate it when I move in. For my apartment, I have no clue how the wiring will be. Really nothing I can do about that I think. But, I will be directly connecting the modem to the cable jack, no splitters from inside. Me and my roommate aren't getting any cable service.
