Not sure what is going on but the Intel 3495ABG wireless adapter can't seem to detect any wireless network. I've tried every driver that I can find and for god's sake, I even installed the HP wireless assistant!
I've check the enhanced warranty program and no, mine is not covered. The device manager recognizes the adapter just fine. I am really lost now, so I will post my setup and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
DV2000 wire connected to Netgear wireless router (my iphone has no problem detecting the wireless network)...I am not sure if it's wired connected then it won't find the wireless network on the same router.
The setup is really simple, there is no 2nd computer. Just cable modem, wireless router and DV2000, that is all.
Intel Wireless Adapter Driver: 11.5.0.34 10/31/07
Intel Pro/100 VE Driver: 8.0.47.0 12/6/07
Bluetooth Driver: 6.0.6001.18000 6/21/06
HDAUDIO Fax Modem w/ Smart CP Driver: 7.67.0.0 8/1/07
If anyone has any idea why it's not working, plz do advise.

Anyone? What version of driver works for you on Win Vista? I m thinking of clean installing my DV2000.

Hi
Is your routers SSID broadcast on?
What wireless security mode are you using? -
ok have u checked that the wireless card is enabled? Is the wireless light on, on the laptop? What OS are u running? go to Network Connections and ensure that the wireless adapter is enabled; right click on it to check, if it's enabled u will have the option to disable. When u click on the wireless icon in the task tray and select view wireless networks does it just don't show any connections at all. Or is there a message in the box?
-
Windows Vista. The adapter is definitely enable. How do you check if the SSID is broadcasted? I did put some security measure to secure the wireless network but it was so long ago, it's either WAP or something else. How do I find out?
-
Log in your router page
-
Did u do the following above?
Also, use Windows to manage ur wireless adapter. Go to start-->Run and type services.msc and hit enter. Look for Wireless Zero Config. at the bottom and make sure it's set to "Automatic" and it's "Started".
Then again, these instructions aren't exactly the same for Vista..those are for XP. So it might be slightly different.... -
Ok, maybe I am not so sure the adapter is enabled. On my laptop there is a switch to turn on both bluetooth and wireless, once it's switched on I assume the adapter is on. However, I went to Network Connection and saw the wireless connection off. I tried connecting but all it shows is "Broadband Connection PPoE Connection", refreshed and still nothing else. So I tried to connect to PPoE but failed. I am clueless why my adapter isn't working.
I tried the services.msc as makaveli72 suggested, I didn't see Wireless Zero Config but found WLAN AutoConfig and it's set to automatic.
the SSID is broadcasted as NETGEAR1. -
It's set to automatic but is it also started? If it's started, stop it and restart the service. While there, ensure the DNS and DHCP Client services are set to automatic and started also.
Can u post a prt screen of ur network connections explorer folder/window? That broadband connection u speak of isn't wireless...this is why I want to see the connections that u have because it should say something like.."Wireless Network Card". What other conections are in the window?
Edit: If u don't see the Intel Wireless Adapter card in Network Connections, then u may need to go back into Device Manager, locate that card and un-install it. Reboot the computer and re-install it and upgrade its drivers. -
Ok, there is some problem with WLAN AutoConfig. I cannot start it. Here is the screenshot: http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x34/lakersgo/WLANAutoConfig.jpg
Both DNS and DHCP are set to automatic and started.
I've also included other screenshots, hopefully, you will find something useful for diagnosis.

THIS is ur problem. If that is not started u WILL NOT see your NETGEAR1 wireless network to connect to. (Unless another utility is managing ur wireless for u) And I just had a feeling this was the problem...I'll have to look up the fix for this. And from now on we're only dealing with the Intel Pro Wireless 3945 ABG Adapter...forget everything else...that's ur wireless card.

Solution for the WLAN service not starting:
1. Do a Start-->Run and type regedit
2. Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ndisuio
3. Change the Start key to "0x000000002 (2)" [double click and enter the value 2]
4. Restart the computer
5. Check that the service is now started. If not start it.
You should now see ur NETGEAR1 wireless network in the list to choose from. -
kidding aside, that was the best tech support I ever received. Thanks.
Any idea why the value wasn't set properly? -
Nope...no idea... (It's Microsoft) but don't forget to be +Repful
BTW, GO LAKERRRSSSSS!!!!!!!!! -
Err...can we watch the language please? I understand its a joke, but please guys...
-
Greg, no disrespect. But you are running the ship too tightly.
This is like looking at one of Picasso's drawing of a naked woman and claim it's pornography.
C'mon. -
Too bad this isnt an art show, its a tech forum. Irrelevant posts go to the offtopic section
Makaveli, you might wanna be careful on asking for rep. The mods can still give negative rep, and they have alot of rep power
. Good job though.
-
But what profanity did makaveli say?????????????????????
-
Sorry...I apologize for asking for +rep and I apologize for using words that I guess can still be decoded by younger ones. It shall never happen again...after all it's not my forum, i'm just a guest here..so I have to abide by the rules, and conduct myself accordingly.
Sincerely,
Makaveli72 -
Just my two cents' worth: the offender wasn't Makaveli72, who has nothing to apologize for (asking for rep is a little gauche, but as the limits on the ability to give rep have been tightened down hard, doing so doesn't cause much harm); it was someone one else's post, which post has since been removed.
-
It's my post.
If I offended anyone I do apologize. -
Hahahha, all of the sudden we have two guilty ones, may be there is a third one
Don't worry, sometimes the mods wake up and post so we don't forget that they are out there
-
Back on topic, I have the same problem, that's is not fixed by this registry edit. Any ideas?
For others with the same problem, mine was due to the Extensible Authentication Protocol being deactivated. After activating this under services, I could start the WLAN AutoConfig
My DV2000 can't find wireless network
