Atleast, I thought it should be simple. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to get my laptop to use wireless N instead of wireless G. I'm using a D-Link DIR 615 and it is setup with a mixed mode of 802.11n and 802.11g because I have a PS3, which is only capable of G, connected to my network. I've looked all over Vista to see if there is a preference check box or something, but I can't find anything. What am I missing here? My laptop has the Intel 4965 AGN card and my drivers are current as well as my router's firmware.

how do you know that it uses g?

When I open the "Connect to a Network" box, it shows my network. If I scroll over it, a box pops ups that says:
Name: My Network
Signal Strength Excellent
Security Type: WPA2-PSK
Radio Type: 802.11g
SSID: My Network -
that card should connect by default to N if it's available. If you go to the wifi properties, configure- it will show N as the default.........
You can adjust some of the properties there.....
leave adhoc settings alone

N Mode is enabled but it still says it is connecting to G.
Interesting Note:
On the task manager, my wireless connection fluctuates from 50Mbps to 130Mbps. Isn't G limited to 54Mbps? Is it possible that it is actually connected through N, but it just says G? When I first got my laptop, my processor was listed incorrectly and I had to download a fix from Sony...

All 11n draft firmware is buggy, some worst than others. Check weekly for firmware upgrades. Yes if it's 130mbps it's 11n.
