Hi all. Recently I got a Netgear WN2000RPT WiFi Repeater to use as an Ethernet bridge to my home WiFi network. It worked great except randomly it would drop the connection and needed a reset. It looks like I solved the issue with it's hidden DHCP server in the Netgear FAQ.
Once you're logged into the repeater's webpage, go to http://www.mywifiext.net/cgi-bin/hidden_dhcpd.html and configure a nonconflicting address range for your regular WiFi's address space, I used .180 to .250. Then let it reboot, and everything should be fine (at least it was for mine).

Thanks for the information, someone may find it useful one day.
How is your Inspiron holding up? Does it have integrated or dedicated graphics? I had one many moons ago (it was my first notebook actually), but over the years here I've been seeing them drop like flies.

Thanks Roger. I post stuff like this hoping it saves someone some grief in the future. My Inspiron is holding up fine. It has the dedicated ATI graphics in it. It's my daily email and Internet system, and is on from wake up to bed time every day.
On the topic of the thread, my work laptop has been on the Netgear with a VPN connection active the past 16 hours without a drop, which is considerably better than what it was doing previously. -
Hi there WackyT. I just want to thank you for your valuable problem solver on the Netgear WN2000RPT. I purchased the repeater last summer. I worked fine but I always had that dropping connection issue regularly. It would get so annoying during gaming and transferring files. I tried everything to fix it in the repeater settings to no avail over months.. So yesterday I googled it and Came across your thread....
The hidden DHCP setting fixed it as soon as I activated it. And set your "Non- conflicting IP address". I then rebooted it. And 28 hours running now I haven't lost the connection yet with the base router.
Your such a help! Thanks a million. You posted that over 4 years ago by the way. The second post said " someone may find it useful one day ". Here in late 2011. It has worked!

Hey guys. I have also been having this problem. I tried setting up the hidden dhcp addresses but it still seems to drop frequently. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks for any help you can give!!!

Thanks for this post. Still solves user issues in 2012! Worked for me here in Australia. Something that netgear could not solve!

More thanks for this post! I had one slight problem - when I set up the server and clicked Apply from Firefox, I got a 500 error page, but it worked fine from IE.

Picking up on this same thread. Has anyone had a issue whereby once you set up the extender when you try to access it, you are redirected to the netgear support page? The link worked to set up the router but I cannot get back into the extender using: http://www.mywifiext.net/ It redirects me to: Welcome to NETGEAR Support Happens if I'm connected to the extender or not. I need to get in to install the firmware upgrade.
