Hello,
I'm in the process of upgrading my wireless and wired network. So far, I have only upgraded my notebook wireless card to an Intel Ultimate N 6300. My next step is to upgrade my router to most likely a Linksys E4200. My question pertains to cable modem upgrades. My current ISP is with Comcast (I think with a 20Mbps package), and I have a Motorola Surfboard DOCSIS 2.0 modem. Would it be effective to upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem on a 20Mbps plan? I've done some research and I'm fairly sure that DOCSIS 3.0 is supported in my area. I also saw that a DOCSIS 3.0 modem should be used for 15Mbps packages and up. Anyone have any experiences with this?
Thanks!

With that kind of throughput you don't need DOCSIS 3 yet but there's another added benefit of DOCSIS 3- it supports IPv6 unlike its predecessor.
This alone may make it a worthy upgrade. -
Ok, thanks downloads. I was thinking of upgrading to a 50Mbps service anyways. So upgrading may be well worth it.

if you're upgrading to 50Mbps, you will for sure need DOCSIS 3.0 modem.

Ok, thanks for the input guys. Much appreciated =).
