Make a home network and enable sharing on your folders.

Sharing folders and files between XP and Vista? You will need to download and install THIS on the XP machine in order for the Vista laptop to be able to see the XP machine. Then create the shared folder on the XP machine and browse to it from the laptop. I think u can use the network and sharing center to view all computer devices on the network. Or u can find out the name of the XP machine by doing a Start-->Run and type cmd hit enter and then type hostname and hit enter. Take note of the name of the XP machine, go on the laptop and do a Start-->Run and type \\computername and hit enter (where computername is the actual computer name of the XP machine). You should see the shared folder in the window.
Good Luck! -
Good details makeveli, I was just waiting for the OP to ask for
networking.
