Hello,
My network consists of a BEC router / Wireless AP, connected to my dsl line.
My primary pc (PC1 - Windows Vista) is connected to this router with an ethernet cable,
my secondary pc (PC2 - Windows XP) is connected via a linksys wireless card.
Problem/Question:
My secondary pc does not see my primary pc, or vice-versa.
How do i set up my network so that i may share media/printers/files/etc between these 2 pcs.
Related question: i have a wireless-enabled media player that can be used to stream music from a pc, i have tested it on other vista PCs, and it works fine.
it will connect to the net through my wireless router, but will not show up on the networking menus of PC1 or PC2.
It seems that each "item" can connect to my router, and go online, but cannot "see or talk" to eachother.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Mel

You need to have the on the same workgroup , plus to add a static gateway.
-
They are in the same workgroup

Is your XP upgraded to SP3 and Vista machine's network sharing is enabled?
-
SP3 is out? haven't used XP is awhile...
i will update it.
Also, Yes to the vista network sharing. -
Update:
I changed some network settings on my XP machine, and i can now view/share files between it when using my Vista rig, but i cannot even view the vista rig from my xp machine.
BTW: i used command prompt, the ping command, and confirmed that they are on the same network, and can "touch" eachother, but no more -
