-
thanks every1
...and i hope this helps every1 that has many problems, like i did b4
-
btw..i fixed the problem wit networking my laptop 2 my other desktop-i had 2 change the name of the computer of my laptop in order 4 it 2 work cuz it kept saying "duplicate name already exists on this network"...and now all 3 of them are networked
-
More or less if you have a router that provides DHCP (most do) and configure your machines to use the same workgroup and different computer names, all the Windows network & internet routing will work fine... So buy any cable/dsl router by Linksys/D-Link/whoever for 30 USD and spend 15 minutes setting the names.
that's my one line networking howto

This IS a great resource but I'm a little concerned about it being here on notebookreview.com like this.
The author is selling it on his web site, and apparently after you pay, then you get those products as downloadable links. As a desperate businesswoman who finally got her laptop connected with this ebook, and a peer who writes content for sale, I'm torn about whether its really fair that it be linked here directly. There is also the legal copyright issue, I'd think.
I feel like I owe them a donation since I didn't pay for this incredibly well written content that they are sellingAnd, also, I think that it would be best to remove the guidebook from your sig, and edit this post and push people to the site where they can BUY the books. We are all trying to make a living here aren't we? This is what we should be going to, IMHO http://www.pcguidebook.com/homenetwork.asp
I can tell you, unequivocably, this guide answered all my problems within a half hour and spared me the prospect of bringing someone in here to fix my network. It is well worth the $35 and they deserve to make money for writing something that even a non-techie could grasp!! -
sooo...has this tutorial helped any1 else???
-
I have emailed the owner of this content to alert him/her of the issue. We will indeed delete these links if we are asked to do so.
-
i didn't know that it was copy-written material when i first found it and posted it...a frend gave me those links...he said that he found it somewhere on the internet...sorry about all this tho
-
Yea, we dont want the owner to have worked on this, expecting to get paid for his hard and dedicated work, to lose money because someone posted an ILLEGAL link to his content.
Even if it isnt copywritten, its still morally wrong to take someone elses work and give it to tons of people when the owner is selling the thing!
Nothin against u LuckMC11, but i dont like piracy! -
I talked with the owner, everything is fine, there was no intention to hurt the owner and he's okay with the situation.
-
ok..thanks for letting me know Brian...i hope it doesn't happen again
-
good to hear there is no trouble and LuckMC is still in good standing in my book!
-
yea..and thanks
-
Cool. I know that Luck didn't have any malicious intent, as he couldn't have known it wasn't free for all! As long as the owner knows he's losing money by not having protected it, then its all good. I guess I was thinking like a writer myself who frequently finds my work stolen online - protecting it is easier sad than done, especially when it comes to articles. There have been times I've found the entire content of my web pages stolen, articles attributed to someone else... makes me crazy
And like I said, it was an AWESOME tutorial so he really does deserve whatever he charges for it. There is soooo much crap floating around online, you know?
Later guys -
-
What happened to the links, did the owner not want them on the site?
-
" Last edited by Brian : 07-29-2005 at 10:32 AM. Reason: Copywritten materials removed"...the owner prob. didn't want it on here..cuz it's like piracy almost...even though i had no clue about it at first
-
completely understandable. Its sad, but i will have to delete the content from my computer tho since it is copywritten.
-
yea...i deleted it from my computer when i found out that it was deleted from the 1st post
...i'll b VERY careful next time
