I have a main box running Windows XP pro and an Acer laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium. I connect wirelessly on the laptop to the internet through a TRENDnet 637AP plugged into the XP box. I want to know the exact steps for sharing a folder and a printer on the XP box with the laptop acroos the network. I have an idea as to how to go about it but I would rather follow steps patterned after my exact situation rather than experiment. If you need more information please let me know.

What you need to do is turn on Network Sharing on both systems - I assume you want to access your desktop info and use your printer from your laptop.
The printer is easy - if it's already connected and installed on your desktop, it should already be seen by the network. All you need to do is to go to Add Printer on your laptop and let it add it to your system. If the laptop doesn't see it on the network, uninstall it from your desktop and then reinstall it again. When you go to print next time, just select it as the outgoing printer.
Folders are a bit different - you need to set sharing capability on both systems. Open the instructions for sharing on both your systems and follow the procedures and you should get it working. -
just to add to what was already said by CyberVisions... in case that you use a firewall, you may also need to allow the service there, it's usually called something like "microsoft file sharing and printing" service.
Networking question...
