Hey everyone!
I need a new router!
It should cost around 90-100 bucks, and should be good. The wireless range must be good, and it should be powerfull (My old router had problems with handling too many IP-adresses at the same time.
Thanks
Kind regards Peter

What about Asus WL-500g Premium.
Fast CPU, 32MB RAM, 8MB flash, DD-WRT capable so you can increase Wi-Fi transmit power, additional USB port and well within your price range. -
Hi, thanks for your suggestion.
But I think I will choose an ASUS RT-N16.
And just a question. We have fibre-optic broadband, and that means we can't use a modem-router right? The ASUS RT-N16 is not a modem-router, and can be connected to fibre-optic broadband?
Thanks. -
Yes- RT-N16 has no built-in DSL modem and can be used with fiber-optic broadband. Good choice but Asus firmware for this router is not too good so I'd go straight for DD-WRT.
-
Damn, I have just ordered the RT-N16. Anyways, the reviews are good, so I do not hope that I have made the wrong choice.
Thanks for your advices though! Nice to have a guy around, that knows something about routers!
Kind Regards Peter -
You were right about the firmware downloads. The Asus firmware sucks on the RT-n16. Every 10 minute the internet speed slows down!
Luckily I fixed it by installing a third party firmware called "Tomato". It's really good

Tomato on 802.11n router? Last time I checked it supported only 802.11g :/
-
Tomato took on a life of its own once the official updates slowed wayy down. It was rebuilt onto kernel 2.6 and picked up n wireless, more devices, USB support, and other features.
-
Yeah you are right I've just noticed that it in their Wiki but still too few "n" routers are supported. I'd like to see Tomato as lightweight alternative to DD-WRT on Linksys WRT160/320/610N routers (I'm still using the old naming scheme
).
New and cheap router
