Is there any way I could download older versions of the driver? I've been experiencing wifi problems, and I read that the 14.8 drivers are better than the 15.x drivers. I updated to 8.1 so uninstalling and restarting won't work.

You can refer to this page for Legacy Intel Wireless drivers but bear in mind Intel has never released Windows 8 drivers prior to 15.x and you may find Windows refusing to install a driver that is older than the current version unless you managed to do some brute force trick.

Their latest drivers don't seem to be all that bad, i use them and they are plenty fine. I can even say my 2230 is much more performant than my AC card i have in my desktop, though this is probably because i have a N router.

Do you have the latest 15.10 drivers? And what router do you have?

I realized that it's more of a range issue and that I'm too far away from the router, but its surprising since my old laptop was stable from my room

Did your old notebook have the same wireless card?
Were you using the same router?
Is Internet Service Provider the same?
Were your router and wireless card settings the same? -
different wireless card- my old laptop had an atheros wireless card
ISP is still the same, just got my y510p around last week
Old laptop had the stock wireless card settings, and I didn't change the router settings until today.
Thinking about replacing the wireless card with a 7260. Is range/speed much better than the n2230?
Old intel n2230 drivers?
