I've been playing CoD WaW for a while and whenever I host games no one ever joins. Many people say it's because my internet ports are block or something along that line. How do I fix this? I did a few Google searches and found no success...

At the end of step one, it says - Upload the cod5 folder and all of its contents to C:\ on your box - What does this mean? What's my "box"? -
* Sigh * your box ... your server

Sorry I'm such a computer illiterate... How do I put something on my server? And what's my server?
-
Well, that guide is talking about running a dedicated server, so in that case, it is assuming you're not playing on the same machine as you're hosting. It's basically saying send the program files to that other machine. I don't think you're looking to do that.
The section I linked (second link) is talking about port forwarding, which is what you want to do.
When you host the server on your computer, it listens for other players looking to connect on certain ports. If you're hooked directly to your modem, then your computer is always open on all ports. If you're on a router (which you are) you need to set up the router to say "okay, that other computer wants to listen on a specific port"
What is the model of your router? Except wait a minute, aren't you at college? I remember that from another topic. If so, you might just be out of luck.
Also it was stupid of me not to ask before, you playing on PC or console? I assumed PC but I could be wrong. -

I'm playing it on PC... And I go to Rutgers, and I'm plugged directly into the wall jack, what that's connected to and how it's connected I'm not too sure. I'm getting a wireless router soon too, so would that change anything? -
You go to Rutgers? My best friend's there. Small world.
Anyway, I don't really think there is anything else that you can do unfortunately. Are you trying to host a game that people on the internet can join, or just on campus? -

Whichever's fine, as long as people can join... It won't help if I use a wireless router? -
No, that would add another step to get you back to where you are now. Sorry.

And does this mean that I won't have any trouble hosting games without all the port opening and stuff?
-
It may be 'unwise' for the computer illiterate to open up their home systems to the internet for the sake of hosting a a game.
-
No, that just means you wouldn't be eligible to be a host. But in MW2 it won't matter who is hosting anyway, it won't give you any special powers over the server. Think about the way XBL matchmaking works in games currently. No dedicated servers there either.
