    Hello..i'm new to wireless connectivity..i have a dell inspiron 700m. I don't have a wireless connection at my home but in my room my laptop detect an Unsecured Wiressless Network probably from someone in the neighbourhood but the problem is the speed of the wireless is always slow..it works fine sometimes but sometimes it gets really slow..can someone help me and tell me how i can get better reception. Plus i don't know the person whose wireless network i'm using..all i know is that the wireless network is "linksys". and one more thing..the network is detected just at one point..close to my window..please someone help..i'll be really greatful..i'll check back on this forum but you can email me too [email protected] if you have any suggestions.     well for starters that illegal to use someones wireless without asking them and getting a ok you could face fines or jail time. On the note internal wireless in laptops probly wont be able to get very good signal from long distance you would need a pcmia card and external ant.

    If I were you I'd respect other's networks which they pay for and fork out the small amount to get your own. You, along with others, are probably using their network, and not just slowing the connection for you, but also for the ones paying for the service.

    Hey i'm sorry..i did inquire whose network that was and it was one of my uncle's friends..thats okay with them..and they said i can pay them for a month..its no big deal..i mean i just didnt had the clue what home it was from until i asked my uncle..relax guys!!
