    Post safe mode boot, unable to connect in Windows.

    Hi all,

    I finally got my ThinkPad T520 out of the safe mode loop. Unfortunately it just won't connect to any Internet source wired or wireless in Windows 7. It would only connect (wired) when I boot onto my Ubuntu live CD.

    The wireless cards and adapters are detected in Windows, but when I run ipconfig in Command Prompt I get two adapters: 1. Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface and 2. Microsoft 6 to 4 adapter. It's an Intel 6205 card and all the drivers are up-to-date - I see it in the Network Adapters section of Networks. netsh resets don't do anything either.

    I did more or less everything listed here:

    ...and it's still not connecting.

    Please tell me I don't have to do a clean install. I've backed up the vital files but I don't want to reinstall everything and lose a small % of stuff that couldn't be saved.

    EDIT: The Intel utility shows that it's failing on the ping test - everything "works" - signals and such.

    What info does the ipconfig give you? DNS ? Gateway?

    Have you tried reinstalling your ISP's software or setting up the network again in windows? Can you connect to the internet with other devices through your router?

    I have Comcast cable so there's no software to install and it's working when I use a wired connection in Linux. But no such luck in Windows - it doesn't recognize ANY sort of connection, wired or wireless.

    DNS is "refreshing" and display DNS draws up a long list of scary-looking names that I don't remember visiting.

    Your dumps does not show that. But you dns should only be 2 IP address. If more, your dns may have been hijacked.

    So I've ping'd 192.168.1.1 and all four packets are lost with the message PING: transmit failed. General failure.

    Network adapters still not showing up in ipconfig.

    Great news! It boots under a wired connection but refuses to work for a wireless connection. It refuses to even detect it.

    OK. Well, it appears it was the remnants of my Comodo Firewall that was strangling my network connection. Uninstalling that re-enabled my wireless AND wired connections. Phew! Still, it made me backup my files! :D
