I'm on a home network with two computers, connected through a linksys router. My problem is that my IP address is different than the default linksys router IP. I can't accesss the linksys router config page through my computer, it only works on the other one. Any advice on the subject?

Are you trying to access it wirelessly? There is a feature on most routers that allows you to keep settings from being changed wirelessly.

I know you can access it wirelessly because I've done it before. Just not on this computer.
The router isn't really modern. It's from 2000 and even though it doesn't like much, I've been told that new routers practically configure themselves. -
If you are using a static IP, then you'll need to make sure it matches what Linksys uses. I would advise using DHCP, so your laptop will get an IP address from the router.
Also - most routers (at least the ones from major manufacturers) allow settings to be changed wirelessly. It just isn't recommended, since the router may reboot after saving changes. -
What is the IP address and subnet of your Linksys router?
What is the IP address and subnet of your computer that can't connect to it? -
Is there a firewall on the computer? The configuration screen on some old routers can't be accessed through a firewall.

Did you try "ipconfig /release" then "ipconfig /renew" from command prompt?

this is not a problem. you cannot have two nodes on a network with the same IP addy. -
+1. They cant be the same.

If there was no problem, he would be able to do this.

You can always reset the router back to factory settings. That would remove any thing he did to mess it up. I think he might of activated something that restricted which pc could access it. But it sounds more of a Firewall issue to me. Any way you DO NOT want to use wireless to make changes to a router. The mini reboots some do will drop the connection and may not save the setting correctly.

i'm not saying there is no problem. i'm saying two nodes can't have the same IP addy on the same network. that's what the poster said his problem was. -
What address are you entering for the config page? I think Linksys is 192.168.1.1. It sounds like you are trying to enter your laptops IP address in the address bar as your config page, which is not right.
Every computer on your network should be able to enter 192.168.1.1 and access the login page
Real IP different from router IP
