Hey guys,
Asus seems to have killed their notebook forums and it was suggested that I post my problem here so here it goes.
I reinstalled the OS (Vista service pack 1) for my lap top, reinstalled all my drivers and can not connect to my wireless router. I have network discovery on, disabled my firewalls and am showing a Realtek RT8168 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet network adapter in my device manager.
I have have tried to right click on the connectivity icon in the tak bar and to connect to the network but "Windows cannot find any networks". When I click "Diagnose why Windows cant find any networks", it tells me that the computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured...
Is there another network card that I am overlooking some where? I been trying to problem solve this for hours and am close to the point to using this laptop in a discus competition. Any help guarantees a friend for life!
Thanks in advance,
E

This is your wired port. It would help if we knew what kind of wireless card you are using (or, at least what manufacturer) - I have a feeling you are using an atheros wireless card and are missing the drivers for it. If you install the latest atheros wireless adapters and nothing happens then you'll have an intel wireless adapter, and can try installing the wireless drivers from intel.
Open up your device manager in control panel and see if it detects a wireless adapter. You should have 2 entries under the category "network adapters". -
Thanks for the reply Hakira. In the device manager the only Network adapter listed in is the Realtek RT8168. When i got to Add hardware and to select a network adapter Antheros is not listed under manufacturer window but Intel is : Intel Pro/wireless 3945ABG. should I try to load that and find the driver for it? Also I checked the order form that came with the computer and this is what it had listed for Communication:
Communications
LAN
10/100/1000Mbps
WLAN
802.11n Wireless LAN
Bluetooth

Yes that is what you are looking for. Just use the add hardware wizard and windows will likely install a driver by itself, but if that fails you can look up an intel wireless chipset driver.

Just to make extra sure, chc to see if your wireless switch is set to the on position, and also to see if you've enabled your wireless with the hotkeys.
Recovered my OS now I cant get my wireless going
