Specifically, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with the intel network .sys file being blamed.
Initially after the hardware was installed there was a driver error. I went to intel's website and downloaded the newest version of the x64 driver for the 5300-5100, then 2 minutes after I ran the installer I got my IRQL BSOD. This BSOD repeats on boot, the only way around it is to boot in safe mode and then uninstall/disable the intel wifi card. If you uninstall it, then it will reinstall drivers upon reboot/hardware rescan and cause the BSOD again. I've searched for this specific problem for hours but come up with no solution- all other people seem to have are intermittant BSOD's.
Any help, gents?

What was the old card? What is your system's chipset? There is a possibility that the 5100 doesn't work with your chipset and is causing the problems.

Intel Wireless cards requires an Intel Chipset motherboard.
So for example, You got an Intel CPU but you have an Nvidia Chipset motherboard, most likely it would BSOD on activation. Or an AMD system with an AMD chipset, BSOD on activation.
I don't know if those older than the 5000 series enforce that but I know the 5xxx or later, and the 1xxx requires Intel Chipset later than 94x/96x.
I wonder what error code you got? ... was it a 0x00..0D1? -
I have an Acer 3830TG, which should be an intel chipset since it's a nvidia/intel hybrid graphics laptop with an i5 core. I'm going to take it apart and reinstall the card now and try again with different drivers.

Since you have an intel chip why can't you cable it to your router and go to the intel site and run the automated driver finder.

Yup, I did this just now. Ran the driver which installed and then gave me BSOD:
IRQL not less or equal etc, NETwNs64.sys, and the STOP is 0x000000D1 -

Odd, how that didn't work. Funny, I predicted the error code correctly.
Try installing it in safe mode with networking.
Did you check the 5100 card in a different laptop recently to be sure if it is in working condition?. -
I have had the Intel utility set up the 32bit when I needed the 64bit version but I caught it and clicked on the more info that led me to the correct one. I have the 5100 on my Vaio. I recently upgraded from XP Pro to 7 Pro and the driver Microsoft loaded was not as stable as what I had before. I put the one from the Sony site for my upgrade version and I still had some disconnects. I put the intel wifi version that has the My Wifi app on it and that solved the problem and it allows me to use my laptop as a hotspot for the kids book readers and the nintendo.
The newest intel wifi software that will work with the 5100 is the 13.5 not the 14. -
Ok I will try this.

I solved the problem. I went to the shop, returned the Intel for an Atheros, problem solved
Replaced old wifi card with Intel Wifi Link 5100. Driver causes BSOD
