Hi, I am going to buy a wireless router and adapter for my desktop pc and need some help.
I thought to buy a Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 Desktop because from what I heard Intel shoud have the best drivers and connection stability - is that true and can you recommend this or shoud I choose something other?
I also need a router for my VDSL 50.000 connection and have no idea what to choose. I don't need any special features, I just want fast and stable wireless internet for my computer. I would pay whatever it needs, but it shoud not cost more than 300 if possible.

Forget the 6205 for Desktop and just buy ASUS RT-AC66U and ASUS PCE-AC66 then enjoy your Gigabit wireless connection (1.3 Gbps).
-
ASUS PCE-AC66 doesn't work on Haswell systems- Asus replaces it with PCE-AC68 for free if needed.
-
I think the AC68 is not available in Germany yet, its only listed at one shop and needs over 4 weeks during availability. And why shouldn*t it work with Haswell systems? I have an Intel i 7 4770K.
Are there other good router and adapter out there? I thought it would be cheaper if I don't need any speacial features. -
I don't know why but it doesn't work. And yes I'm aware that AC68 is not officially available for sale but it's apparently available for replacement.
Your CPU is Haswell so PCE-AC66 is not for you. -
I asked Asus and the card ist not available for replacement yet in Germany, can you recommend me something other, please? I cannot wait any more for the Asus Card.

Do you actually need 802.11ac wireless transfer or not? Because if you don't transfer files over LAN, backup from laptop to NAS over Wi-Fi etc. you don't need to spend so much money on a top notch 802.11ac router especially that it's a first gen router.
You could easily settle for Intel 6205 you mention which is a good card indeed and one of the routers I recommend in the sticky - TP-Link TL-WDR4300 for example.
There's no reason to spend money on something you won't need. -
I think I don't need 802.11ac as I don't transfer files over LAN. OK thank you, I will get the TP Link Router than.
Would be the TP-Link TL-WDN480 adapter also a good choise or should I go for Intel? -
Go for Intel.
