I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW480J that i recently upgraded from 32bit windows 7 to 64. My wireless worked perfectly before the upgrade but now I can't get it to work. I've tried downloading and installing drivers from the Sony site but nothing is going on. I have to connect to the net via ethernet or dongle and its proving to be an inconvenience. I have a permanent red X at the task bar even when wireless is switched on. Please help resolve this issue.

The red x can mean the wireless function is physically switched off thus no networks are available.
A yellow mark means networks are available and you need to select one and probable enter a security key
Is there a small switch somewhere or perhaps a Fn key + F key combination press that enables WiFi?
When pressed a popup may appear stating WiFi ON/OFF
Do any of your keyboard F keys have a wireless icon on it?

If you did a clean Windows 7 x64 installation did you install any Sony utilities that may be required for thing to function?
