Hi, Folks!
I have a condition now where by my laptop can't detect the previously-saved network.
The laptop had no problem connecting automatically to the wireless network (and that network has actually been saved). But all of a sudden, that network is not detected anymore. Strangely, other networks (not the one that I mentioned) are detected. I've tried to refresh the network list, turning off then on the wi-fi, moved closer to the router, even uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter driver, but they just can't solve the problem.
Does this have anything to do with isatap or virus?
FYI: I don't own the wireless router, cause it's shared with other tenants and located in other room.
I really need your helps. Thanks in advance!

Windows saves settings for certain networks- it's in control panel/networking center/manage wireless networks (in Win 7)
Go there and find if the network in question is there- if it is delete it.
If it isn't delete all networks there, reboot and try again.
Is the SSID hidden? -
OK. I'm using Vista btw.
Is it the same?
There are 2 laptops here. I don't think the SSID is hidden, coz the other laptop can still detect the network. -
It's the same on Vista.
Computers can see a newtwork they are already connected to even if it's hidden so that doesn't mean anything.
Try to set up your network as if it was hidden- create a new connection and manually type SSID- see if your computer can find in then. -
I've tried to connect manually, but then a pop-up appear.
-
Sorry I don't understand- when and what pop-up?
-
I mean, I tried to set up the connection manually. But when the network successfully added, the network is still not detected.
Since there's an unnamed network, I suspect that should be the one, but when I tried to connect, it didn't work. -
There are two checkboxes down on the first page of manual setup- did you check them?
-
only the first one
-
Please refrain from excessive bumps- it wasnt even an hour after you had posted.
Did you try to check the second checkbox?
Have you updated your driver (I know it worked with a current one but new driver overwrites settings in registry which may be useful)?
What wireless cards are you using?
Last but not least- can't you just log in to the router and make the SSID visible rather than hidden?
It doesn't improve security and it doesn't require changing anything on other computers on the network. -
sorry, could u please continue?
-
Why don't you answer my questions and test my recommendations first?
-
Sorry, but it seems another problem appeared. now when I go to network and sharing center, it's stated that
connection status: unknown
no class registered
I was uninstalling an outdated antivirus (using RevoUnistaller) and installed a new antivirus. Then when the laptop done restarting, it happened.
And to answer some of your Qs:
I've tried to update the driver after uninstalling it. I did try to check the second option, but still can't detect the desired network. And the wireless card is from Intel (not sure which model).
Last thing, I can't access the router, cause it's not in my room. But I guess the SSID is not hidden, since my other laptop is able to detect the network and connected to it.
Thanks! -
To explain the condition now, here is the screenshot of what I meant in the previous post.
