    USB To PCMCIA Adapter For Pcmcia Wireless Card

    I want to be able to use my pcmcia wireless adapter on the USB port on my desktop. Is such an adapter available to make this happen? Someone said that they thought one of the name brands usb adapters actually had a pc card adapter in it but he couldn't remember which one.

    I don't think they make such devices (in fact I hope that they don't). For a desktop, get a PCI wireless adapter.

    I agree with Dr_st. You might also just want to get a USB wireless adapter. :)

    l'm pretty sure you can get a pci adaptor that'll let you use a PCMCIA card in your PCI slot (assuming you have one open).

    The cost of the PCMCIA->PCI adapter (if such exist) will probably be more than the cost of the Wireless PCI adapter.

    I have seen such device. I could try to find the German link once again. The device was pricey (more than 100 euro).

    I have one those PCI to PCMCIA card in my desktop. I bought one for $25 from newegg a while ago. I use my D-Link DWL-650 PCMCIA card in that(108MBPS super G which works with D-Link 624).

    I have several laptop PCMCIA cards accumulated over a period of time, so I thought I could make good use of those( Modem, cellular cards, Wireless, USB2, Firewire, Lan etc PCMCIA).

    No drivers needed and works pretty good in XP without any problems.
    There are few other versions, which take 2 PCMCIA cards and also have floppy size adapter which sits in 3.5" drive bay, so you can plug-in PCMCIA cards from front side.

    eBay has tons of them. Search eBay for pcmcia to pci adapter or Google for the same. But unless you really want to use your pcmcia device in the desktop, it would be cheaper to buy a wireless usb adapter for the desktop. That's what I'm going to do.
