Here's a unique problem that I hope someone has already discovered and fixed. I have a Keyspan USB server, connected to my Linksys WRT54G (version 2). I have three computers - two Dell laptops and a desktop. My e1705 has the Intel 3945ABG wireless card, my 1100 has a Linksys WPC54G (version 1.2), and my desktop has a Linksys WMP54GS PCI Card. All have the most current drivers available, and the router is running the latest Linksys firmware (previously running HyperWRT and had the same problems).
The 1100 is running Windows XP Home, and the others are running XP Professional. All three have SP2 and all of the latest hotfixes. All three have the latest Keyspan USB server software. The USB server has the latest firmware.
When the USB server software is first installed, everything works. The computers can hibernate and standby. After rebooting, the computers can only hibernate/standby once. After that, the computers hang at the "Preparing to hibernate/standby" screen. A forced reboot is required to get the computers back to a usable condition. This happens with or without devices connected to the server.
If I disable the wireless cards and connect the computers via the onboard NICs, the computers have no problems; standby and hibernate work as advertised.
The USB server works flawlessly - all devices connected to it are available to all computers.

Do you have the wireless card setup to power down to conserve power?
-
I've tried all settings regarding power - it doesn't make any difference. I highly doubt it's the card or the router, as I have a NAS with a built in print server, and I've never had hibernation problems with that device.
I contacted technical support and the tech is going to get a wireless card and a wireless router and attempt to replicate the issue. -
Hi!
You can try USB Redirector from www.incentivespro.com. They have free trial version. And it seems this software solution should help you. Good luck
-
How do you have the Keyspan unit configured: Multi-User mode; Multi-User mode with printer Auto-Connect; Single-User mode ?
-
I've tried both multi and single user modes, and both have the same hibernate/standby problem when connecting to the server via wireless.
Do you have the US-4A as well? If so, have you tried replicating this problem? -
This software is useless as I don't have a computer connected to my USB devices. That's why I bought a USB server that connects directly to my router.
In the future, please don't spam forums trying to get people to buy your software. On a hunch I googled for "usb redirector tooms" and found two other forums where you "suggested" getting USB Redirector. -
Just in case someone else bought one of these and is having the same problem I had, I found a link to the US4A file folder on the Keyspan website.
http://www.keyspan.com/downloads-files/us4a/win/
There's a version that's not listed on the official download page - version 2.0.1. After it installs, the registration page shows a different hardware part number, but I decided to ignore it and press on with the install. It upgraded the firmware and the software is also different, but it solved my hibernate problem.
It's very unfortunate that my support request on their support site has gone unanswered, and that I was forced to find this file by using Google. The product now appears to work great, but I wouldn't consider buying anything else from Keyspan until their customer support improves dramatically.
USB server + wireless = no hibernate/standby
