Anyone here have any idea how one can overcome the restrictions of university proxies? They tend to block some gaming sites that i use... >_<

haha I would assume the reasons are bandwitdh realted (may be on the same subnet as production sysytmes as well) or just an easy way to block all P2P in generall (eliminating the need to differentiate what is legal and what is not) I am sure there are hacks of sorts but you are not interested in that are you
?
One way (there are others I am sure )
You might consider a bottle of the University's sysadmin favorite
beverage' (or at least an Email) and ask them to NAT or forward the gamer server ports to your DHCP assigned address and then forward the ports on your own router to your system. You'll need to get a reserved DHCP address so you always have those ports forwarded to you.
You need to be specific about what game servers and ports you are looking for. Might get lucky
good luck -
If only... They charge about NZ$90.00 an hour to meet em. So yea... I'd rather be more stealthy, you know. Like trying to get a third party proxy that allows my game and let it be the direct connection to my University. But...
I play MapleStory by the way. MapleSEA to be exact. I can't find a way to set the proxy manually. I can do it for the other main internet programmes that i use... -
And in case you are worried, i am certain it is not illegal to use the connection to game, it is just not reccommended, seeing as gaming time should be study time, so that's another reason why i don't want to consult the university help...(As if the 90 bucks isn't reason enough). So, any ideas?
