I have a new laptop. G3 compatible. Have NOKIA cellphone with T-Mobile. Is there some way to use my cellphone as a wireless "card" for my laptop? If so, please address cabling. Thank you.

Wireless, as in connecting to an A/B/G/N network?
Or wireless as in wireless anywhere.
If you have a data plan, you can hook it up and use your data plan. Don't know too much about that.
I have an SCH-U740 (no data plan), I use bluetooth to connect to my PC (no cabling) and use it as a bluetooth modem. My cable ISP provides free dial up service to all cable customers, so I use that and do dial up. It's digital so it's actually significantly faster than 56k, standard dial up. -
You might start by asking these questions on a cell phone website, especially one that is related to your particular phone. Most cell phones have the ability to tether to a computer, but each one is slightly different.
-
Yes you can, your phone most likely has a data port and a cable to connect with the USB jack of the laptop. Now, you must use the software (e.g. Verizon Wireless Mobile Office) provided by your carrier to get the connection done. The example I gave you is for Verizon (CDMA), you must get the software from your GSM service provider, which most likely will connect you to the GPRS/EDGE network, lower speed than EVDO (CDMA).

Or you can use a bluetooth tether, if you have bluetooth. That's what I do with my Treo.

How fast is your BT connection?
-
Faster than my Data connection. Bluetooth 2.0 tops out at 3Mbits per second?? and my EVDO connection is like 1.5 Mbps.
-
3Mbps from the BT to the cell. From the cell to network is still 1.5Mbps though.

It beats breaking out the usb cord.

you need to talk to t mobile sprint has something that is called phone as modem but all phones do not support it and you have to get a special plan for it and then you have to be provisioned for it for it to work
