I implemented WPA-PSK myself and everything seems to be working well, although I noticed some slow down in my machine, I'm wondering if it has something to do with the new code repetiton protocol.

Yep, is incredible how much data you can get from the mouth of people or what you can find in employees trash.

So we're all talking about WPA at the moment but my DS can only use WEP so that is what i use...? i can't use WPA because if i do my DS can't go online.

some routers can show you who is connected, or when your activity light is going crazy when your PCs are off

DS Lite doesn't either. You basically have two options. Use WEP or disable security all together when you need to use the DS and re-enable WPA when you're done. Or, buy the DS/Wii Wi-Fi dongle that plugs into your PC. From what I'm reading, it acts as a bridge. The DS communicates with your PC via the adapter and is able to download data that way. The official Nintendo adapter is expensive brand new and tough to find. I just picked up a used one on Fleabay for a little over $20 shipped. Nintendo released a software update that allows the adapter to be used on Vista. I hope it works because I really want to access the downloadable content that's available for Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

what i would recomend, buy some cheapo router (10-30 bucks) use that for DS with WEP, main router with WPA.

use some sort of schedule for that cheap router that will only be on when nessesary.

    Hi.

WEP is not useless, 99% of people would not know hot to get past that level of encryption, including me, but i could find out.

But if you use the hightest level of encryption that your router, compuer supports, does it slow down you downloads?

    Regards

    John.

actually WEP is the one that slows down the speed. WPA2 usually takes the smallest hit.
    here is a good comparison

    Hi.

    interesting

pity WPA, is not much better than WEP for speed on your graph and i suppose most people use that as WPA2 is newer.

    regards

    john.

PS. what is the graph in blue, is that un-encrypted.

    Thanks.

at my place (home)...not many would be happy with the 'change' ..so i guess WEP is fine for now.

although i have enabled MAC Filtering and setup firewall monitor ..

anyone trying to sniff or crack the WEP ..i ll get alerted.
