So, from the research I have done, and I've looked in the Linksys forums and this one among others, it appears that one can NOT get N speeds on a WRT350N Router on a laptop using the Intel 4965 AGN card, CORRECT? I am trying to confirm this to see if I am wasting my time trying to get them to connect at this speed at this time.
I am unclear of the results of the new firmware on the 350N as I have seen somewhere that Linksys was rolling it back, so Linksys has not really updated the initial firmware?
350N v1 can be flashed with DD-WRT but not V2. However, unclear to me that DD-WRT is successful at reaching the N speed "holy grail."
My networking skills are great but I have been searching for a solution for a while, if one is out there. Know that we are still in draft-N mode, so....
But has anyone had success? Am I messed up in my thinking?

No way...hardware doesnt allow it!

I was looking at that one and ended up with an Airport Extreme...I'm connected NOW at 300 Mbps using an Intel 4965agn wireless card....if I set to 2.4ghz 11n with b/g compatibility so everyone else can get on, I drop to a measley 130Mbps
I'm turning my old Netgear router into an access point front end to the airport so I can leave it at 5 ghz and 300Mbps (and give everyone else G)...it does fluctuate to 240 and 180 sometimes, but the signal at 5ghz is 4 to 5 bars through 3 walls, about 50 feet.
EDIT: I also have my External HD hooked up to the AE's USB port....cured two problems with one shot, 179 bux though. -

She'd probably say "I told you so!"
Guess its just down to how long do I wait to get hopped up on the faster speeds. Was looking at going with SageTv and was wanting to max my connection speeds--for that and other reasons. Hate to spend the bucks then not get the benefits -
I really like the Airport Extreme....don't have any MAC's, but I do have a bunch of iPods....

i had ordered a linksys wrt350 but when i saw all the problems with it and it not supporting 300mbps with the intel 4965 i changed my order so i now will receive the airport extreme

EDIT: the pure simplicity of it makes it cool....a white brick with a single green lightalso, you would be remiss not name your wireless net 'Airport'

The 4965 only allows Maximum N speeds on the 5ghz frequency range. You would need a dual band router... 2.4 ghz and 5ghz to get what you want. I do not know that the airport is dual band or not.
Basically Intel decided for us that the 2.4 ghz band is overcrowded (which it is) and set the 5ghz limitation in the firmware. Thanks for not offering the end user the choice Intel! -

Hell yes I have and I unplugged it about 1/2 hour later. I have a case open with linksys to which they claim ignorance to the problem yet it is cited repeatedly on the net.
It runs VERY VERY slow. plenty of people have problems with permisisons and file corruption. The last time I hooked up my external drive to it I actually chose the "safe removal" option on the admin web page and my drive got wiped.
I don't use the NAS anymore I just connect to a share on a networked machine. The "Storage Link" on the Linksys WRT600N is marketing crapola of little to no value. -
Thanks - I will not be counting on that feature!
