Actually, not only do I have the right, I have a responsibility to do so, and that makes a big difference. He explained that it's his dad's router, and that he's not happy about losing bandwidth. Do I know how to install custom firmware that allows QoS? Yes. Will I tell him how to do it? No. It's not his equipment, so instead I will tell him to seek permission before making any changes.

Anyone who posts a question in a public forum must expect a variety of answers. In this particular instance, my answer was to ask permission before making changes because I believed it was wrong to make changes without asking. Your answer was how to do it, because you believed it was not wrong to make the changes without asking permission. Because of my posts, he knows that he should talk to his dad and ask permission before making any changes. He was angry, and hopefully my posts helped him see things in a different light. Because of your (and others') posts, he knows how to make changes to the router to help balance out the loads.

That sounds like a fantastic sharing of knowledge to me.

I'm not sure that the word "moral" can be reamed out far enough to encompass the implied definition of that term here.

Let me say that again,

Everything has a degree of severity. Notice the word before moral here.

Yes, using a standard rhetorical device the purpose of which is to indicate that it isn't an issue, period. However, it is; it may not be on the same level as blowing dad's brains out in lieu of telling him you borrowed the family car, but it is still a moral issue with larger ramifications than seem to be grasped here.

lix, your position, while 'interesting' might have a bit more authority if you yourself weren't advertising '1.5Tb of Anime'. Got purchace recipts for all that?

Most (99%+) anime are not licensed in the U.S. I do have anime that is licensed that I did not purchase. However I do not claim to be perfectly moral either. I do buy licensed anime as well. I bought a boxset of Yawara fairly recently. Of course you wont know what that is. If you are curious as to what anime titles I have, feel free to PM me. I can give you a list and you can decide which ones are illegal. Most were watched before they were licensed anyway, but I still have it so I will not try to claim that I have no pirated anime. Since you do not have any pirated material whatsoever I accept your moral authority.

Well if you want to teach me English I am happy to learn.

I dont need the approval of others. Nothing wrong with having 1.5TBs of anime. You are welcome to advertise what you have as well though it might be against forum rules.
