I'm planning on buying an Asus G1s in the near future. I want to be able to play some games wirelessly if i want to hook it up to my TV in the family room for example. I do have Verizon DSL.
i was looking at the Dlink DGL4300 and I've also heard a lot of people talk about the Linksys WRT54gs or gl or something but I don't know if that is good for gaming.
Which would you recommend? Will I experience a lot of lag? Will verizon DSL be okay to play games online because its been fine when i played Counterstrike but wired.
also would upgrading a modem do anything to speed? or does it all depend on the service you sign up for from verizon?

The DGL4300 is a proven solid router. The newer DIR655 may be better, but it does not have a track record. At least with Dlink you have Free Tech support.

WRT300N By Linksys Its an N router so if u plan to switch to an N card in the future

WRT300N v2 is Intel based with 16MB RAM/4 flash.
I'd rather take WRT350N with Broadcom CPU @300MHz and 32MB RAM/8 flash.
WRT350N will also run DD-WRT v24

are those both N routers? I was told in another thread to just avoid N routers since theyre new and not all the bugs are quite worked out. Im no wiz at routers and networking so i might have a trouble working through some of the networking problems.
I have a DSL connection so either an N router or a G router would allow me to get the best speeds from my internet service correct? basically would an N router give me more speed than a G router?
Speed isnt too much of an issue i just want to be able to play FPS shooters such as CS and battlefield 2 with no lag. -

an N router is only faster when transferring files through a network...your speed is capped by your ISP if I believe...isn't that the whole point of different internet speed plans?

As stated above "N" does not give you any advantage when it comes to surfing only. It may increase coverage and will help when transferring big files on internal network.
As for WRT300N and WRT350N, these are both "n" routers.
The main advantage of WRT350N is good hardware (will help with gaming or P2P) and possibility of installing DD-WRT or other 3rd party firmware. -
I use DIR-625. How do I check the specs for my router?

would i be good with getting the DGL-4300 for my needs? it seems i dont hear a lot of people raving about this router? are the ones better than this? can anyone else say anything about this router or whoever has it shed some light.
Which Router for gaming?
