Hello, I was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem which has me completely baffled.I have an Acer aspire 2920 laptop running on Vista. For some completely bizarre reason, it'll only connect to the wifi network when it's running on the battery - once it's plugged into the mains it won't connect at all. When I asked Windows to diagnose the problem, it told me the connection was cancelled.
Could anyone tell me how this could be. Surely if the laptop connects when running on the battery it should connect when on the mains!
Many thanks

Check your power profile for when the system is running on A/C to see if the wireless card has been turned off for that profile.

Thanks for your reply: have just checked the power settings and the wireless button is checked for A/C. Two more weird things about this: once I connect it with the battery and then plug it into the mains, the connection stays (go figure!). However, the only browser I can use is Firefox, IE is unable to connect to anything. Windows updates aren't downloading either. The AVG antivirus programme however is downloading updates. This is just so strange - any more ideas?
