I tried to connect this wireless printer and it asks for a WEP/WPA security
access code. I have no idea what it might be so where can I look on my
laptop for this code.
Thanks

You tried to connect the printer to your wireless network, or you were trying to connect to the printer using your laptop?
-
..ask the person who set up your router

Its probably written on your router somewhere.

I hope it's not written on the router! That's about the last place I would put my encryption key!

While I share your horror with my initial reaction (
), why? After all, the point of a wireless encryption key is to keep people without direct access to your network off it.
Technically, if they have access to your router, they already have access to your network. Wireless is simply a convenience, not a barrier.
S'funny story...I had a job in an building last week and the person was having trouble getting her email. There were so many unencrypted wireless networks in the building, all of the tenants were joining each others networks and no one was connected to his or her own network. People couldn't print to their own printers, they couldn't get email from their own servers--and the original person who called me--her router was actually no longer working, but wasn't aware of that because she was getting her internet without issue.
It actually took me 30 minutes to figure out what was going on because it was such a mess and in order to fix it, I ended up walking around and encrypting everyone's network and computers and alternating channels just to clear up the mess.
And yes, I wrote down the encryption key and the SID on each router
