I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium and in my Network and Sharing Center is labeled as "Wireless Network Connection 2". Now, I can change the name by going to Manage network connections and right-clicking and renaming my wireless connection (not the SSID). That's fine. But the thing is, when I try to remove the "2" from Wireless Network Connection 2, it tells me that I can't do that because it says the name already exists. However, I don't see the name anywhere.

I'm not really trying to find a fix for this because I just changed the name to "Wireless Connection" which is okay by me. Just curious as to where this Wireless Network Connection (without the "2") resides, because I sure don't see it.

Also, for some reason, in the past, whenever I'd go to a friends' house with my notebook, whenever connecting to their network at different times, their SSID would be followed by a number. I went under "Merge and delete network locations" and deleted the unnecessary extras. Any idea why this occured?
