Hi!
First of all.. I'd like to know if there's any External HDDs that you can connect to your wireless router so you can access wirelessly through your home network... And if so, are they all compatible with Vista x64??
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Yes, you can, they are called NAS (networked attached storage). You should not have problem verifying with a NAS vendor if their products are Vista x64 compatible.
-
You can also get stand-alone NAS storage solutions that have their own wireless network connections, such as (this is just the first thing I came across when I googled wireless NAS, so I'm not pushing TrendNET in particular) the TrendNET TS-I300W.
-
Yes, I heard about them but it seems that they aree quite complicated to setup and access (especially remotely) and they are more expensive as well.

Whoa!!..Dude, that thing looks sweet...and its not at all expensive wirelessman...only $161 on Amazon. The only thing is i will prefer to have it connected directly to the network instead of wirelessly though. But it looks awesome....
Edit: then again it should be able to be accessed through the network w/ out wireless. Duh!...i'm really falling in love with it. -
There are also wired solutions; e.g., Netgear makes the SC101, which is an enclosure that can take 1 or 2 IDE drives (not included, just like the AA batteries
), and which has a gigabyte ethernet connection, so you could plug it right into one of the 4 wired LAN connections on the back of your wireless router.
-
Yeah, that's the best, dirrectly connected to the ethernet port.

The Asus WL-700 router has a built-in HDD while some of the WL-500 and WL-600 series will support a HDD connected to the USB port on the router. However, one inconvenience is that the router runs Linux and the HDD needs to be formatted with a Linux file system.

Are you sure that's really an "inconvenience"?
Do you know which file system it uses?
