Hi,
I need to get a router. I have two laptops, a cell phone and a PSP with these wireless specifications:
Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini-card (#1 laptop)
D-Link Wireless G notebook adapter (#2 Laptop)
PlayStation Portable 802.11b
Smart Phone 802.11b
I have 1Mbps internet connection. I live in an apartment of three rooms. As I entirely don't know how these things work, what kind of router should I buy to get the best solution for all my toys?
Please I need some suggestions or thoughts ASAP![]()
Thanks

Many people like Linsys routers, but I personally like Netgear. Now, both routers come with a combination of technologies, by what concerns me right now is your ISP, 1Mbps, it's very low so a G router will be fine, but if money is not a problem for you, then I would go with N.

It might be wise to ensure that whatever router you get has WEP, WPA, WPA2, WPAPSK for the security features. Some older devices can't utilize WPA & WPA2. My Netgear router allows connections from both WPA & WPA2 simultaneously. It is a nice feature.

I agree, I also like Netgear because its robustness and extended coverage with MIMO.

Thanks for all of your answers. I've got a D-Link G router and it seems to be working fine with all of my toys. But I have another question: Is it right that N routers don't work with b adapters? The guy at the computer store told me so. He told me if I want to use n,g,b as the same time then I have to get a G router as N router won't work with my PSP and SmartPhone (b)

No that isn't true at all. The guy at the store should be fired! Haha. As long as it says this on the box you're fine:
For example, that came from the specs on this router:

BTW, that isn't the router I would buy that I linked to, it is just the first one that I pulled up. -
It is like saying DVD Burners do not read CDs
. The guy had a blonde moment
. I have a netgear N at 300 and works flawlessly with every Wi-Fi protocol out there at the same time because it is backward compatible
. My E70 and E90 phones are G and I have no issues, my laptops have ABGN and I am waiting for my new laptop to arrive with another N.
