I have a 4 years old Acer Aspire 5517. That thing had always been quiet until about 3 weeks. The fan was pack with lint. I did dismantle it/clean it up using the instructions given online. All went good except...now, my wireless isn't working anymore. The small orange LED doesn't come on. If I click on the wireless switch, I get the wireless icon with a big red X. If I click it again(I should get the wireless icon without the X) I get the same wireless icon with a big red X. This did happen at a public library and I'm 100 % sure this isn't a rooter problem. Any idea?

Check if the Wi-Fi card is properly seated or better yet take it out and put it in again.

To clean the fan, you have to dismantle the whole thing right to the bottom but...you don't have to remove the WiFi card so I didn't. You sure have to disconnect the 2 wires that goes to the antenna but I'm sure they are well connected back where they use to be. Here are the instructions I did follow:

Thanks Download! You were right. The Wi-Fi card connection was the problem. Everything works fine now. Thanks!
Wireless not working anymore.
