Im using a Dlink 2210 router that i have setup in "compatibility " mode for both N & G. that being said shouldn't my laptops that have N cards connect at a faster rate than 54mps? as it stands i can have 4 laptops hooked up with n speed wireless cards and all of them connect @ 54mps.

Yes, they should. Mind you, what they connect at and what they actually can transfer at will be two different things. Do you have devices that are G that are connecting at the same time as the N when they show the 54mbps?
-
yeah , most of the time my wifes old dell is connected at the same time as my M17x. however the connection speed is the same if only my m17x is connected.

Is the wireless security set to WPA2+AES?
-
Not every wireless N compatible at full/half speeds.
N was only a draft for a long time and most cards/routers are still from that time frame.
If not compatible then it will run in G speed, if it is not the newest full speed then 130-150 and if everything works fine then full 300.
Have to google around that what cards the router support at full speed. -
yes.
the card i have is the intel 6300. so if i understand you correctly my router may not be compatible with the 6300 card beacuse its newer? -
close the thread please im an idiot, i just realized that its a g-108 router, not even N capable. geeez..thanks for the help though guys.
