Hmmm... Ok, I got my laptop, I got the wireless networking up and running in the house (only for my laptop), BUT now our desktop PC will not go online. It will go if you log on unfer my side (my XP acct.), but not my hubbby's side.
I didn't change anything on our desktop PC, so why wouldn't it be working?
I did have one problem with my side when I first installed the router- I, too, couldn't get online- but once I reset (powered on and off) the modem, router, and PC it was up and running again. Any thoughts?...

1) Are desktops wired or wireless?
2) What's handling DHCP, your router or modem? -
I just got off the phone with my DSL provider and Linksys. Basically, I had to reset the modem and router numerous times before everything was fine. Also, the Linksys rep said the firmware on the router (just bought today) was old, so I had to download new firmware and have the rep walk me through it manually. Don't know if you got a Linksys, but if you did, that's probably the problem.

I'm home now and can look in to this more... OK, my desktop PC is wired. I have SBC DSL. I am still using the old modem they gave me like 3 years ago. NOW, my laptop can still go online (that's how I'm posting this) but my desktop PC cannot, not under my or my hubby's account. What do I do? Er, what did I do wrong?...

What was used to set up the account?, desktop or laptop?
Make sure your router is NAT & DHCP, should have a private IP (192.168.x.x). Try cloning the pc used to setup the account into the routers setup. -
Here's how your equipment should be wired.
* Set your router to get it's internet settings from the DSL modem.
* Set up NAT & DHCP on your router for your internal network (desktops and wireless clients).
* Turn off both the modem and router. Turn on the modem, wait 1 minute, turn on the router.
Wireless working on laptop, but now desktop won't log on to internet
