I found this router at canadacomputers.com for dirt cheap. I expect it's crap, but even still, I've never heard of 2wire before... maybe its a screaming deal.
Anyone heard of that brand before?
-
It's fine for an inexpensive router, I'm using one right now. However, from what I've heard, it's either a hit or a miss, but alot of people have been very happy with it.
-
It looks really nice. Like aesthetically.

2Wire has been around for many years, ATT DSL Yahoo use them for there installation. This is a modem, router all in one. This Is A Referbished router. Since a everything is in one unit it makes a compact unit.
-
now, theres no chance that this thing could have WRT firmware, or be a repeater right?
-
Nope. WRT works only on the Linksys WRT54G/GS.
-
wrt works on MANY different routers guys.. some from buffalo, asus, linksys, and others can use wrt check their web site for a full list
and do not buy a brand new WRT54G/GS the newest revisions WILL not accept wrt.. only up till 6 i believe and even that was wrt micro.. they are now up to 8.0 or 8.1 if i remember right -
In general WRT firmwares (DD-WRT, Open WRT etc.) work on Broadcom based hardware.
-
so.. um.. it wont take it then? sorry im not knowledgeable as far as networking technology is concerned.
-
How many modems accept custom firmware? The hardware in question is more than just a router, it's a modem/router combo.
-
There is a problem with it because packages for TI AR7 are binary only and Broadcom's ADSL/routing processors are unpopular.
So you are basically right with this one- ADSL means no custom firmware.
In general of course, because some TI AR7s run Open WRT and Linksys WAG200G has a modified official firmware with some add-ons but that is nowhere near what DD-WRT offers.
anyone know anything about this brand?
