well i bought a studio 15 from dell friday and i need a wireless router now. i had a regular wired router for my 2 desktops but now im looking for a wireless router. i went to the dd-wrt website and they reccomended a few routers. and they were buffalo whr-g54 and g125, linksys wrt 54g,54gs, and 54gl.
im looking for just a regular g router because i dont think i need an n router for some basic home networking. but i wanted to know how those routers are or if u reccomend any other type of router.
i also was looking at dd-wrt and tomato and am very new to this. i was going to install dd-wrt at first but then i saw tomato, so i was wondering which is better? and wat exactly do these firmwares do? also before i install those, do u reccomend me upgrading to the newest firmware before i install dd-wrt/tomato, or does it not affect it?

For normal home use you don’t need to install custom firmware. I use a WRT54G V8 with Linksys firmware, it runs pretty well (two notebooks on wireless and a 24x7 web server on wired network). Sometimes maybe once or twice a month it get stuck, but nothing a simple reboot can’t fix.

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
I am running Tomato on my WRT54GS and love it. The open source firmware like Tomato opens the router up to do a LOT more. It can even boost your signal power. Check out Tomato's site.
