Ban his mac address in the router you can set times when it's allowed in most routers.
-
i dont use a router i just use a switch
-
Then perhaps the answer to your question is: time to switch to a router (specifically, one that will allow you to impose time or bandwidth limits based on MAC addresses).

Chop his Ethernet. Or log onto the computer and disable the network adaptor via device manager. -
List ALL your equipment including model numbers (cable/dsl modem, switch). What is the IP address for YOUR Machine.
In all liklihood, your cable/dsl modem is a combination modem/router, as very few ISPs allow multiple IP addresses to a single account.
You may be able to limit things at the modem/router level, or if it is a managed switch (don't think netgear has them, but maybe I am wrong--without the model number, I cannot say).
If you just have a plain dumb switch and a basic modem, your network isn't likely to work. -
Bandwidth limitation is a pretty advanced feature that most home routers dont have. Your best bet is to look into getting a DDWRT compatible router.
-
Not necessarily. The netgear - with the original firmware - I have allows me to put time limits on when a particular system that connects to the network can access the internet.
-
Router , you must get one
but choose wisely -
That's not a bandwidth limit, that's just a time limit.
They're talking about limiting his speeds to be lower at certain times, not cut it off completely. -
as the OP has thus far failed to provide full information, or even return, it is kind of academic...
how can i deny internet to one of the system in a switch
