Problem : connection drops in speeed all the time
I have updated to the latest driver for my 2200BG adapter and the latest firmware for my netgear dg834g router but i still suffer drops in connection. This happens when I am playing online games such as FEAR. I will go into a game and for about 2 minutes the ping will be stable at 35-60 (occasionally jumping to 200) but after about 2-3 minutes the ping starts to rocket to 400, then to 800 then into the 1000's region and i suffer from major packet loss. The intel software says my connection is "very good" and power management is set to maximum and i dont have any radio interferences around my laptop (apart from radio in next room which is usually off). Ive tried various "fixes" like changing to g only and changing the channel etc. on various forums but it just doesnt work.
yes i have seen the other thread, but its 51 pages and most of it isnt relevant to me!! Please help me.. im just a poor man trying to get by and this is how i get treated![]()

if you're gaming, you'd be better off jacked in with a real wire
-
nah there are lots of people on wireless playing FEAR with stable connections with 30 pings...

Some users report better connections using the microsoft utility over the Intel ProSet, you could give that a try.
Another option would be to use an older version of the intel drivers. Some claim improved connections using the older drivers.
But if you really want to pwnzer n00bs, like drumfu said, you see fewer complaints about wired.
