My msi gs70 has killer ac 1525. it works as expected
i always had intel wireless card other than when i had alienware x51 which had realtek? (i think)
That alienware was upgraded to intel wireless card promptly because it didn't have 5GHz and having 5ghz when there is a microwave sucks
now my msi gs70 has killer wireless card, my first time using it, and my first time experience isn't good.
sometimes it randomly just disappears from system, like i cant find it from device manager
it happened 3 times this week
and it happened once when i put laptop to sleep then restarted router and when i resumed laptop, wireless card disappeared. Other two times, I'm not sure
first time, i opened it up, and removed wireless card, started the computer, shut it down, and put the wireless card back, and it works again
now, i found out that i could go to bios and reset to original settings as i exit the bios, and it works again too
bios is up to date btw
msi support is kinda useless and they just said, i can send it for rma
also, another question, i have a hp elite x2 1012 with intel ac8260, and i have a hp wireless dock which uses intel wigig. Wigig is only supported on intel wireless card like ac18260 and ac18265, but those work together, when they aren't supposed to, what happened here..... (kinda disappointing that the dock has a fan while the tablet itself doesnt and range is like 1m)

Instead of sending your laptop away I would just bit the bullet and spend the 30$ on a new intel one. You could try the latest generic drivers for that card from the killer website instead of using the msi ones.

i dont mind spending $30 on intel one. but im just wondering if all killer sucks this way or is it only mine and the rma will fix it. when it is working, it works just like intel one (obv)
yea i think the driver i was using is what was installed originally so i installed one directly from killer website -
I don't think all killers have these problems might just be yours. Pretty hard to say unless someone here has the same laptop and card as you. The cost to ship it to them for the rma and the time lost for not having it also risking who knows how competent a tech rummaging around in your machine is not worth it just replace it your self.

This is the best $30 USD I spent on my laptop:
Just upgraded to an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265
Read about the Killer WLAN card issue in the link in that thread from the Alienware forums. I had the same problem with my Killer AC 1535, if it was under heavy load like many simultaneous downloads, the freakin' card just disables itself from the device manager until I reboot.
The only thing Killer about Killer WLAN cards is they kill connections

best thing ive ever heard. well i might as well upgrade to ac 18265 because i have the hp wireless dock using wigig.
when i opened it up, it had 2 antennae but ac18265 has three, what would happen then. some cheap laptops have 1 antennae connected to dual band wireless card and it works fine, so i guess ac18265 with 2 antennae could work as well?
still clueless why hp elite x2 1012 with ac8260 connects to the wireless dockSpartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

yesterday, a friend of mine complained to me that he internet is laggy and slow.
So I logged into his system using TeamViewer and guess what? he had the Killer Software, it has set all his apps to priority 4 (below medium) except for Steam and Origin. so then we started setting all the apps to priority 1 to give them full bandwidth, then we noticed there are too many apps and we got bored. Next, we uninstalled the Killer Software Suite and just installed the drivers manually. He was amazed how snappy his internet became, he told me it's like you just upgraded my bandwidth by double! He couldn't be happier! I feel sorry for people who are using that piece of junk app that's throttling most their apps.
When I use an app, I want it to have full bandwidth, period. It's not like we're on dial up or old DSL connections, most of us have super fast connections and we want to use it to the max. -
Almost all issues with Killer are fixed by uninstalling their crap software suite, and just installing the standalone driver package.
I just did this a couple months ago, wish I'd come across this revelation 2 years ago. Poof, no more random disconnects.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
Which makes them just ordinary Atheros cards they are to begin with...

I know, which is my main gripe on these Killer cards, if you use their buggy (since years) Killer Suite, you get issues like disconnections, and previously BSODs on my Alienware 18.
If you just install the Killer Suite, they become a normal Atheros card so all these great features that they market are pointless. Their drivers team needs to get fired and hire a new team. Great hardware, spoiled by buggy drivers/Suite -

after i installed standalone driver without the killer app, it seems to be working fine,,,, (for now)

that's already outdated and doesn't support MU-MIMO but it's a great stable card
this is what I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191953046897?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT -
Did you make an offer on it or bought it now and what offer did you make. A friend might get one of those.
It looks like 8260 and 8265 are about the same just 8265 supports something I dont need. -

no offer, bought two of em immediately for the listed price, I think it was 30 USD per piece
I don't bargain on cheap things like these or make offers. -
cool thz

It worked fine for me on Windows 7. It kept cutting off on Windows 10.
-
My killer card has been fine on Windows 8.1 and 10... No connectivity issues Wifi wise, bluetooth was difficult to set up but is better now..
-
It started working properly at some point when I was using Windows 10. I deleted the Killer Suite and it maintained an 100% connection uptime from there.
I just decided to install Windows 7 since setting up Windows 10 with a clean install is not my cup of tea. -
Disable advanced stream detect, thats what causes issues...
I think the best way is to use the base drivers without the suite, thr suite doesn't add much Tbh..

The latest drivers only installation was released, claims to solve the disconnection issue
