brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
I'd go with the Buffalo WHR-G125 or Linksys WRT54GL, both of which are capable of running DD-WRT firmware. If you want 802.11n... I'm not sure what to recommend.
I had well over 200 days uptime using DD-WRT on my WRT54GL, with a little help from my APC SmartUPS of course. Very, very reliable firmware. -
same model yes. that seems a little overly cheap. my cost on it is $69 and retail is $80
-
I second what brianstretch recommends, the wrtgl is a solid router, and with 3rd party software even better.
-
yea but you have to remember it is a refurbished model? it does get a good rating though. so does this router at tigerdirect.com sound like a good choice?
-
i love my WPN824v2. i can go outside and still have excellent connection. my house is 1600sqft and my router is in the middle of the house
-
raven- does it work with windows vista?
-
yep.
using vista and wpa2 security -
so does this sound like a good router choice? oh and how far can it actually reach?
-
i love it so far. i've only had it for 3 months
-
i meant as far as feet..how far can it go?
-
i have know idea. i can outside and in my garage and it works. i donn't know how many feet
-
okie dokie..thats okay. so do you think it is worth buying then, as far as a good choice in a router
-
i beleive so. i wanted a linksys (every wired router and modem i've ever bought was) but the reviews on cnet weren't very good for linksys.
what really sold me on the WPN824 is that my parents have a 2800sqft home and it works everywhere inside and gets decent reception outside -
cool..does it have a pretty good speed to it..like what are your usual speeds?
-
350kbs to 600kbs
usually dl speeds at 450kbs -
okay thanks raven. i think this will be my router choice!

ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
D-Link DIR-655 (or 660).
Better performance/reliability than any Wireless-N router I can think of.
Mike. -

-
