i dont know anything bout wireless internet but is there anyway to pick up a connection from a further distance, i think theres a antena u can get or something. but is there a way without that, and also since u can pick up a connection without a router but u need a router for a service provider could u buy a router and have that router pick up someone elses internet with a better signal?

Using other peoples internet is illegal, blah blah blah.... preach preach preach

yeah i read that some where where a guy in florida got arrested for parking infront of someones house and the home owner noticed him parked there two nights in a row so they called the police, but then it went on to say that a police officer cant arrest you, the only way they can arrest you is if someone turns you into the fraud department.

no one gonna touch my qustion hmm does that mean its possiable? lol

the important thing about wireless connection is ssid broadcast and authentication.
if someone broadcasts his/her ssid (wireless connection name) and its not protected and authenticated, you can use the connection free of charge and no responsibility whatsoever so long as you dont get caught...
cheers. -
yeah but i was wondering since you need a wireless router to get wireless net service could you use the same thing to get the other wireless net and at better range.

I guess I don't get the question - but as others have mentioned, its illegal to grab other people's internet connections without their consent. This doesn't mean that you can't share a connection and split the bill, though!
Certain higher end routers have detachable antennas. You can get high-Db antennas to replace the original one. This will extend your range significantly. The draft-N MIMO routers also get better range because of multiple antennas. -
It is possible to do that, what you're trying to do is called Client Bridge Mode.
Where your router will be an access point that will double the signal strength wirelessly i.e without having to hook up any cables from router 1 to router 2. But the problem is that you have to access the routers through hard wire first, set up both routers , then you can bring your router home and it should work from there, but it requires a lot of network knowledge and time.

so it would be a waste of time then if its pretty hard to do i mise well forget that.
might be a stupid qustion
