my home setup has 3 notebook wireless all with intel wifi cards only. all 4965 model. my router right now is a linksys wrt150n running dd-wrt firmware sp1.
this router feeds my desktop via a lan post and a wired connection this is always perfect and up and running, this issue is with the wireless.
no matter what i try settings wise if i am on one notebook and my wife turns on another and goes online it kills my interent connection and switches me to local only. though i CAN STILL access ...after maybe 30seconds.. the internet and use it as normal even though it says local only?? now if i kill her connection and restart mine it works fine without issue UNTIL another notebook goes online and then whichever was already online bam.. immediatly to local only but the other notebook remains connected as local with internet? why does one stay connected while knocking the other one out.
the router is set up as a gateway and has incoming fios to the wan port.
anyone else with this issue it been driving me CRAZY..

Try cloning the MAC address of the PC used to setup the account into the router. Are you running a mix g/n or straight 11n? Make sure your using the latest version of dd-wrt for your router. May even want to try some bata release.

Do you have some QoS settings on?
-
What OS are you running? If you're running _Vista, there might be problems if _Vista "thinks" that the network is not trustworthy enough (at least, once the other machine comes online) and may be shutting itself away as a "protective" measure.

if i clone the mac from the pc it cant connect with verizon even after doing a release renew. something about them having to do a hard release on their end instead, should i change it from a gateway to a router and use it as a traditional router. according to the dd-wrt forum they told me to only do that if i had other routers. they told me to use it as a gateway instead. the wireless part is setup as a access point. it is running mixed mode because if i set it to n or g only i have issues even connecting one wireless connection. with it in mixed mode i can connect fine until i try to have more than one notebook connected at a time
no i do not -
yes vista. i do not ever have this issue in any other location or scenario like at my office? with the same notebooks??

I'm sure the answer is "yes" but, just to cover all the easy bases - are both machines in the same workgroup (or domain)?
-
yes they are

Okey, dokey, there goes the low-hanging fruit! Have you checked the event logs to see if anything got logged each time the connection was dropped? If so, that might give some clues (at least something that could be searched in the MS KBs).

ill see what it says. but should i be using this as a router instead of a gateway? there are no other routers, ap's, or gateways in the setup just this single unit
okay this is driving me crazy.. help me out
